Tree rats and birds …. again

The local news paper has already announced that spring is here, and the birds have build their nests, and are now laying on their eggs waiting for the big wonder to happen. At the beginning of my morning trip, I saw a hollow tree, and my first thought was that I might get a good shot of a bird coming out from the hole. After waiting 15 minuter this little fellow sticks out his head. Big fluffy tail, four legs and red fur …. not exactly a bird – even I can see that. He was eating eggs for breakfast. From Cute Squirrel to Tree Rat in one second. This animal sure needs a personal trainer to recover his “Walt Disney” image.

Here are some other shots from this morning:

it is not often that I shot a landscape photo – but today I tried ……

Made a stop on the way to fill petrol

Its always nice to have good time when you are on your way home from the office. These images are from Monday, where I had to take a bit longer and different ways just to fill petrol on the car. I made a short stop, and here is the outcome.

Thanks for looking

Some images from this week

It has been some slow weeks with a lot of office work, but this week I have had some time to go out and shoot some casual pictures, not just stock images. Just having fun. All these images are shot with Canon 1D Mark IV and EF 70-200mm 2.8 L. Since every body is discussing about MP and ISO noise on all the forums right now, I decided that the Camera (just got a new one) can do me well for a couple of years more. I think I can manage with the lovely 16MP for now :)
That was it for now. Not exactly top images :) but it was fun taking them.
Hups – I forgot to show you this one of the Fox.
This one is taken with the 60D.

have a nice weekend

Sunday

Picture taken with my iPhone

A nice way to spend a Sunday, a whole day to spend in the forest, with good food, coffee, and good company. Still waiting to get my 100-400mm back from service, it has taken a veil now, about 3 weeks.

Our dear neighbor has a lot of potted plants: o)

and they are all on our living room floor along side a number of other potted plants that friends has left behind. Quite nice since we do not have big ambitions in terms of plants.
All the visitors here vegetation gives a lovely quiet in the house while we stress round with

There is one plant that stands out from all the others. When it arrived it looked as boring and ugly as can be, hanging limply over the edge of the clay jar.
As a retort it has now created  these beautiful flowers in just a few days time : o) Now I can not walk through the room without stopping up and look at them.

I took some pictures of it, but since all our studio lights (we have at home) is on loan (because we do that, too) I had to use sunlight, and it’s actually the best solution when it decided to shine in from the right angle.

Canon 60D and 70-200mm 2.8 L and a 21mm extension tube. Handheld because when I looked around to find a tripod, I got a short reply, “tripods are for wimps – real men take blurry pictures …….” so I do.

Have a nice start on the week

We are too slow

Hi, Its been a long time since last update – and no – we have not fallen asleep. Its a busy period, and there is a lot to do on all fronts.

Up in all this work, it is time to plan some upgrades of the camera gear. As many of you have read earlier, we upgraded from Olympus to Canon last time (one year back) So far we have been very pleased with the Canon gear, and specially the L lenses that we have been using. BUT THEY ARE HEAVY !!! The weight of the gear was one thing we did not consider when we changed from Olympus to Canon, or did we ignore it? I am not sure. For a standard shoot, using 1D Mark IV or a 60D with a battery grip, plus the smallest of the most used lenses we have – the 24-70mm 2.8 L – I am holding 2,5 kg. Traveling by plane the amount of hand luggage is normally around 8kg. I use all the 8 kg for Camera gear. As much as I am satisfied with the Canon gear, I will go for a new gear test with Olympus. The new OMD camera looks to be a winner, except that there will be some lenses we will be missing. Since the M43 system has a multiplication factor of 2 a 35-100mm 2,8 lens is missing the the lens line up. Panasonic has a prototype that is often show on shows, but there is no news about when it will come out.   So we have to wait a bit until we buy in a test camera and more lenses. the 3 most used lenses are 24-70 2.8 L, 70-200mm 2.8 L and 100-400mm 4.5 L. We need to find some very good lenses in the M43 lineup to match these :)
